ClassPlaybook

Talk Privacy Policy

Effective October 5, 2026

ClassPlaybook Talk is a communication app for people of all ages. This policy covers the Talk iPhone, iPad, and Android app. It does not cover the separate ClassPlaybook website or teacher tools.

Information kept on your device

Talk saves communication profiles, names, communication-partner notes, personalized words and phrases, favorites, settings, and usage counts on your device. If you choose pictures for a profile, button, or scene, Talk copies those pictures into the app's local storage. Talk uses this information to show and speak your communication boards. Without optional private sync, this information stays on your device.

Talk uses the system photo picker when you choose a picture. The app does not use the camera for eye tracking, record eye images, or collect gaze data. Eye Tracking and Camera Switches, if enabled, are managed by your device's accessibility settings.

Optional private sync and transfer

Optional private sync does not require an account or email. Talk creates a random pairing code and encrypts communication profiles, names, communication-partner notes, personalized words and phrases, pictures, settings, and use counts on your device before uploading the cloud copy to Supabase. The server stores an encrypted copy and a one-way verifier, not the pairing code or readable boards. Changes made without internet remain on the device and automatically sync after reconnection while Talk is open. Another device with the complete pairing code can read and change that copy. Keep the code private; ClassPlaybook cannot recover it if every paired device is lost. If the same board was edited on two devices, Talk retains an additional copy of those edits rather than silently discarding them.

Android build 6 and later ask the person setting up cloud sync for their birth month and year. Talk keeps that answer only on that device and uses it to make cloud sync available to adults. The answer is not included in the synced profile. Earlier iOS TestFlight builds do not have this age check; use local boards without cloud sync on those builds for children. People of every age can use the communication board locally without giving an age or using cloud sync. An adult may set up sync on their own device for a board they manage.

You may also export a password-protected profile file and share it using your device's sharing options. The file can include profile details and, only if you select the option, personal pictures and usage counts. Whoever receives the file and its passphrase can restore the information. The destination you choose, such as email or cloud storage, has its own privacy practices. Keep the passphrase separate from the file. Older, unencrypted backup files should be treated as sensitive.

Network activity and third parties

The app's starter words, pictures, search, speech, and saved profiles work locally. Optional private sync uses Supabase cloud services. Talk does not include advertising or analytics. The operating system or app store may process purchase, download, crash, device backup, voice-download, or sharing information under their own terms. Talk does not receive App Store payment details.

Your choices

You can edit personalized content or delete the encrypted cloud copy in Talk's Sync settings. Deleting it retires the pairing code, so other paired devices stop syncing but keep their local boards. Disconnecting a device removes its code without deleting the cloud copy. Deleting the app removes local data, subject to device backups or exported files, but does not automatically delete the cloud copy. To ask a privacy question, contact classplaybook2026@gmail.com. You control files you shared with other people or services through those destinations.

To delete the active encrypted cloud copy, open Talk → Settings → Sync across devices → Delete synced copy → Confirm. Talk keeps the encrypted copy until you delete it. After deletion, the encrypted board is removed and the code stops working; the server retains a one-way verifier and revocation timestamp to prevent reuse of that code. Local boards remain until you remove them from your devices. If you no longer have a paired device or pairing code, contact classplaybook2026@gmail.com for help with a deletion request. Without a code or other way to identify a copy, ClassPlaybook may not be able to locate it. Files you exported and device backups follow the retention choices of those destinations.

We will update this policy if Talk's data practices change, and will publish a new effective date.
